Carbon Drawdown Collective is the investment and philanthropic arm of a family office that deploys capital to scale promising or proven solutions to the climate crisis. The founder is a multiple-time successful renewable energy entrepreneur who is now devoting his resources and experience to support for-profit businesses and nonprofit organizations. Carbon Drawdown Collective is not a fund or fiduciary. We make investments or grants directly to recipients.

The Opportunity

CDC is looking for an experienced investment professional at the Vice President or Senior Associate level with a passion for addressing the challenges of climate change, well-honed analytical tools, an appetite for quantifying complex and emerging opportunities, an ability to deeply understand businesses and NGOs, and a desire to support them in their mission. The VP/Sr Associate will have an opportunity to contribute to building an important new initiative. For the right candidate, the role is a partner track position.

The VP/Sr Associate will work closely with the Managing Partner and founding team on all phases of the investment and philanthropic process, with both deal evaluation and execution responsibility. The VP/Sr Associate will work with the firm’s portfolio companies and NGOs to assess new markets and opportunities, support business strategy and operations. Candidates should have strong research and analytical capabilities, an ability to lead due a diligence process, and demonstrated investment and operational judgement.

The firm is a distributed organization with offices in New York City and Charlottesville, VA but is open to those who would prefer to work remotely — ideally on the east coast. Compensation commensurate with experience; competitive benefits package. Travel may be required from time to time but is not expected to be frequent.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in a similar or precursor role at a private equity, growth equity, later-stage venture fund, corporate venture unit, or experience in a relevant role (i.e. corp dev, strategy) at an operating company, all in climate or energy
  • Demonstrated industry expertise, network, and a passion for addressing the challenges of climate change
  • Highly quantitative with deep analytical skills (financial modeling, market research)
  • Very strong writing and communications skills
  • Coding skills and an interest in building custom analytical tools preferred but not required
  • MBA or CFA designations welcome but not required
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who can work independently within a collaborative team
