We are looking for an experienced Sustainability Manager for our UK business with a track record in the renewable energy sector. This is a new role created because of the growth of our business and the continuously evolving standards for sustainable development activity.

Job Description

  • First-hand experience of the renewables sector and sustainable development best practice
  • Defining and implementing the annual UK sustainability action plan incorporating:
    • UK projects in development, construction, through to operation
    • Statkraft strategic objectives for sustainability
    • Local and EU law
  • Building a team that will work with project developers, project managers and asset managers to design and execute sustainability plans, meet Statkraft standards, to facilitate innovation, and to identify and manage relevant partnerships
  • Ensuring the quarterly and annual reporting process is carried out efficiently and accurately
  • Participating in Europe-wide projects that address how Statkraft is going to achieve key strategic targets relating to climate, circularity, the just transition, and improved biodiversity standards
  • Performing due diligence on the portfolio on an annual basis
  • Performing due diligence for M&A with support from the Business Area team
  • Identifying high risk areas and working with the business to mitigate risk
  • Sharing best practice and standards; inspiring and educating the business
  • Working across departments to achieve a cohesive and joined-up approach (eg, Communications, Public Affairs, Compliance, specialist sustainability colleagues)
  • Representing Statkraft with trade bodies; taking part in working groups to set standards for our sector
  • Speaking at relevant events: conferences, open days, stakeholder meetings
  • A blend of commercial and sustainability roles
  • First-hand experience of the renewables sector and sustainable development best practice
  • Experience of working on climate, environmental, social and human rights issues
  • Understanding of key environmental, social and human rights guidelines and frameworks (such as the IFC Performance Standards, UN Global Compact’s 10 principles, OECD Guidelines on Multinational Enterprises, UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights).
  • Strategy, planning and implementation skills
  • A track record of excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Presentation skills
  • An established network of sustainable professionals

Qualifications

  • An infectious passion for sustainability
  • An ability to sell the commercial benefits of sustainable development
  • A networker and influencer, with proven track record of working in complex organisations
  • Experience of working in a multinational (desirable)
  • Master’s degree or equivalent
