Rubi is ushering in an entirely new planet-positive era for manufacturing. Our vision is a world where human prosperity is planet-positive, and manufacturing is symbiotic with Earth. Our mission is to build the world’s most sustainable supply chains for the important materials we rely on; including textiles, building materials, food, packaging, and more.

Rubi decarbonizes supply chains, starting with the fashion industry.  Inspired by how trees breathe in CO2, Rubi uses biochemical processes powered by enzymes at an industrial scale to “eat” carbon emissions and make carbon-negative, resource-neutral textiles for the fashion industry.   Within the last year alone, Rubi’s game-changing technology has captured the interest of the scientific community, top investors, and the world’s most influential  fashion brands.  It has partnerships with global fashion brands and manufacturers, and has been featured in Vogue Business and TechCrunch.

As Rubi Laboratories is growing, we are building our amazing team! Currently we are looking for a Business Development Manager who brings exceptional business acumen, strong negotiation skills, and a creative and analytical perspective to business development and partnerships. This person will be passionate about business innovation, strategic partnerships, and bringing sustainability solutions to the market.

At Rubi, you will be focused on initiating and developing business partnerships with the world’s most influential and innovative apparel brands and manufacturers, including pitching our brand, technology, pilot programs and, eventually, offtake agreements. This role will have total ownership of building and managing relationships with relevant brands and apparel manufacturers. Collaborating directly with our co-founders, leadership, R&D and legal teams, our Business Development Manager will lead the ideation, negotiation, and execution of Rubi’s critical initiatives. Most importantly, this work will play a critical role in promoting our carbon-negative technology and creating collaborations with iconic brands.  The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment, and is passionate about bettering the world.

  • Lead the negotiation and execution of complex and impactful deals, while engaging with and aligning cross-functional teams internally and externally
  • Envision new ways that strategic partnerships can positively impact business and sustainability objectives by applying creativity and business acumen
  • Own responsibility post-contract for success of the partnership, including proactively resolving business and technical issues and serving as an internal advocate
  • Demonstrate strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills in order to unlock the best value of your partnerships. Track, analyze, and communicate key performance metrics, feedback, and learnings to internal stakeholders
  • Embrace Rubi’s values externally with partner organizations and teams
  • Create strong pitch materials and content that communicate our groundbreaking technology
  • Report to our co-founder & CEO and work cross functionally across company leadership, operations, R&D, and legal
  • Drive the future of the fashion industry, and be directly involved in the technology that is unlocking planet-positive textiles

Qualified candidates have:

  • Bachelors or higher in business, economics, finance, textiles, engineering, science or related field
  • Approximately 5 years' experience and a strong track record of creating complex business deals and external partnerships related to revenue goals
  • Expertise in apparel manufacturing, innovative fibers, supply chains, textiles, and how fashion brands work
  • Expertise in complex contracts, including how they are structured through negotiation.
  • Consulting experience, ideally from a large firm
