About the job  
  
The Senior Consultant is responsible for being the face of ClimatePartner to our clients, acting as project manager across projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope and to a high degree of quality, whilst supporting other consultants to do the same.  

Specifically, this includes: 

  • Acting as a project manager on client projects, ensuring their completion on time, in scope and to a high degree of quality 
  • Supporting our clients in identifying carbon hotspots and devising carbon reduction strategies 
  • Acts as an expert in complex GHG calculations involving all categories of Scope 3, deciding on methodology of non-standard work 
  • Supporting clients to set Science-Based Targets and to create Net Zero roadmaps, aiding in workshop facilitation and analysis of detailed decarbonisation scenarios 
  • Leading climate action workshops and presentations to senior stakeholders, and consulting our customers on their sustainability journey 
  • Advising customers on requirements for acquiring the ClimatePartner Certified label 
  • Providing insights on sustainability claims, communications and marketing initiatives based on core pillars of transparency and credibility 
  • Advising clients on credible climate action strategies, including green energy solutions and mitigation projects beyond their value chain; guiding them through the various technologies (e.g. Nature-based solutions) and standards (e.g. Gold Standard) 
  • Guiding and mentoring more junior members of the team 
  • Engaging with research & development and our digital solutions teams to ensure ClimatePartner methodologies continue to meet market demand 
  • Aids in ensuring that new practices are embedded within the team by liaising with consultants, analysts and team leads 
  • You will be working in close contact with and supported our expert team in our headquarters in Munich
WHO YOU ARE
Relevant candidates will have:  

  • You have professional experience in environmental / sustainability consulting, professional services or equivalent in-house role, or in a non-sustainability industry-specific role 
  • Strong project management, account management and analytical skills 
  • Knowledge of carbon accounting and sustainability reporting (e.g. various GHG protocol standards (Scope 2 guidance, Scope 3 guidance, value chain, corporate standard) 
  • Good knowledge of sustainability and carbon reporting (including but not limited to SBTi, CDP, PAS2060, TCFD, SECR, BCorp) and related legislation (such as CMA, PPN 06/21) 
  • You have an affinity for numbers, excellent analytical skills and are very comfortable in using Excel to an advanced level 
  • You are incredibly passionate about sustainability, climate change and are driven by a strong conviction for climate action 
  • You are an excellent project manager and can manage complex projects effectively 
  • You build relationships easily and believe in educating clients as a tool to build trust 
  • You have exceptional communication skills and can communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and budget holders at a management and board-level 
  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset, sense of responsibility and willingness to take initiative 
Desired, but non-essential

  • General sustainability knowledge (waste, circular economy, sustainable finance, biodiversity, air pollution, social impact etc.) 
  • Knowledge of VCM, offsetting, green/renewable energy certificates 
  • You have experience in life cycle analysis, corporate social responsibility strategy, climate risk, CDP/TCFD reporting, natural capital accounting and/or biodiversity assessments 
  • You have a technical sustainability-related university degree or similar educational qualification

Compensation  
  
Salary is dependent on experience with the following salary band: £40,000-£55,000 per annum.
