POSITION: Lead Systems Design Engineer
Location: Remote; US Gulf Coast or East Coast preferred
Travel: 20% to 30%
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: In this role, you will lead the mechanical and material construction aspects of the design of our core process technology and serve as CR’s marine technical lead. You will be a key liaison for our customers technical team(s) and, in conjunction with other members of the CR team, you will help guide and direct the construction and integration of our technology onboard our customer’s vessels. Through active engagement with our partners and stakeholders, both internal and external, you will pursue & provide value-added improvements to our technology.
A summary of responsibilities include:
- Manage the mechanical engineering design & construction of core OCC process technology & equipment
- Manage detailed naval engineering design and integration work with external partners
- Support and oversee the installation, integration, and commissioning of our first systems
- Manage correspondence with external partners and stakeholders (suppliers, contractors, customers) of OCC systems onboard our customer’s vessels
- Analyze vessel particulars and technical performance parameters and provide feedback to detailed engineering & design workstreams
- Work with broader CR team to further develop our engineering roadmap
SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical engineering, Marine engineering or Naval architecture
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Marine or Technical Superintendent or Vessel/Fleet Manager
- In-depth understanding of regulations governing the Marine industry & operation of merchant vessels under IMO, such as SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW convention, and the ISM code, and know how to access information when required
- Experience managing and leading marine/technical projects (e.g. new building supervision, installation & retrofits of equipment and/or integration of technology or hardware onboard merchant vessels, dry dock supervision etc.), will be preferred
- In-depth knowledge and experience in areas of Maritime engineering including familiarity with various operating systems onboard (Hydraulics, HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical, Engine and Powerplant, etc.)
- Ability to read and understand technical plans and drawings

- Sea-going experience onboard deep-sea merchant vessels will be preferred
- Ability to travel to work sites, supplier facilities, vessels in operation and/or conferences.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word is helpful
- Passionate about decarbonizing the maritime industry

The employee will be required to travel to other locations, workshop(s), and visit customers’ vessels, where they may be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, high noise and other mechanical hazards posed by machinery in operation. For shipboard visits, the employee will also (occasionally) be required to walk to the dock, ascend and descend the vessel during their visit and may also be required to access with limited headroom etc.
This position may regularly travel domestically or internationally, hence all travel documents must be current and valid.
