CTVC is the leading source on climate and innovation, read by 40,000+ investors, corporates, and operators every week. We provide data-driven insights across all sectors of the new climate economy to accelerate the deployment of planet-fixing solutions. After three years as the trusted voice in climate tech, we’re doubling down on our data and insights to expand the newsletter into an essential market intelligence tool for investors and corporates in the new climate economy.

As the climate funding market picks up pace, we’re leveling up. We’re looking for a full-time Research Analyst who will drive forward our narrative and market coverage. As a Research Analyst, you’ll develop research and data tools to help investors and corporates navigate the shift to net zero. A good fit will be technically inclined, financially curious, and obsessed with solving the climate crisis.

You’ll get front row exposure to top founders and investors, meaningful impact influencing the narrative of climate tech, and the best vantage point across climate tech. You’re epically curious and a little spicy, while being reliable and prolific. You’re looking for a fun, diverse, and mission-oriented workplace. Must love emojis!

The Role

  • Build the data — Build out the proprietary datasets that serve as the foundation of all CTVC analysis. Includes solution-level metrics and milestones (tech approach, project scale, customers/ partners) that will help investors and corporates identify and evaluate between different climate tech solutions - from battery recycling to direct air capture.
  • Ear to the ground — Go deeper than the quantitative to separate hype from reality. You will be responsible for reaching out to and conducting expert interviews - including climate founders, investors, academics, and industry experts.
  • Find the signal — From the data and the interviews, put it all together. You will be responsible for producing concise, actionable analysis in the form of market maps, competitive landscapes, key takeaways, and more.
  • Talk the talk — Having done the work and become an expert, the Research Analyst will be called on to speak with clients and others to share their insight.

The Essentials

  • Data-first — You believe that good data is critical to reversing climate change. You’ll need to be comfortable building and managing datasets on complex topics. This will be done via automated and manual data collection, as well as interviews and surveys. A plus if you’re comfortable with Airtable, Excel, and/or SQL.
  • Equal parts investigator and storyteller — You’re comfortable deep in the data and up at the 10,000 ft view. Go past "what are the facts" to "how should we think about this?". You’ll need to transmit your findings through concise write-ups, standardized data points, and spoken analysis. Clear writing and speaking is a must.
  • People-person — A huge part of this role will be working with people. Whether it be through the [hundreds] of research interviews, or working with the team to manage datasets and come up with market insights, you’ll be working with people constantly. Plus, you’ll build a gigantic network.
  • Self-starter — You’ll be joining us on the ground floor. You’re adaptive, impact-motivated, bursting with agency, and a team player. You can work independently, yet be collaborative with colleagues.

A Plus

  • A Masters’ Degree in Environment/ Climate, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or other Sciences
  • Additional data analysis / data science skills including Python or relevant languages
  • Relevant work or course experience in climate or energy

Housekeeping

  • You’ll be based in our London office working side-by-side with our growing team
  • Full-time and internship positions available
