About the job

We are looking for a senior thermal engineer to lead our reactor design team and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop novel chemical reactors to meet and exceed their prototype goals. In this position, you will apply heat transfer knowledge to optimize thermal management. You will be responsible for the thermal characterization and management of hardware.

Responsibilities

● Manage a group of chemical and mechanical engineers and lead projects to develop novel chemical reactor and heat management system.

● Design thermal integration schemes and perform thermal analysis of the heat management system

● Collaborate with cross-functional team to execute hardware development and test programs and utilize the results to validate designs

● Facilitate testing of thermal management systems in experimental systems and search opportunities to improve heat transfer effectiveness.

● Ensure proper workplace safety during laboratory activities

Education & Technical Qualifications

● BS/MS/MA with 8+ or Ph.D. with 4+ years in mechanical/aerospace/chemical engineering with a focus on heat transfer research

● Professional experience in heat transfer, heat exchanger design, or thermal management

● Theoretical understanding of heat transfer and working knowledge of heat exchanger designs

● Experience with compact heat exchanger designs, rapid hardware prototyping using additive manufacturing is a plus

● Experience in high-temperature thermochemical energy conversion devices (reformer, engine, turbine, etc) is a plus

● Experience with 3D thermal fluid system simulation and thermal-structural analysis is a plus

Managerial Qualifications

● Previous assignment as leading or managing chemical engineering or mechanical engineering role

● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent written and verbal communication skills
