Nelnet is expanding its corporate venture ecosystem into the climatetech sector to deploy venture capital to help facilitate the growth and development of cutting edge climatetech companies and technologies. We believe our relationships, reputation, integrity, sense of purpose, experience, and capital lends itself to us becoming a formidable partner, investor, and advisor within the climatetech sector for years to come.

This position will be integral in supporting strategies and objectives of the venture capital arm of Nelnet’s Renewable Energy team. The role will entail gathering relevant investment information, analyzing target markets and industries, reporting pipeline opportunities and outreach, compiling financial models, creating business leads and related material, and reporting such information to pertinent internal and external stakeholders. In addition, other responsibilities include monitoring investment performance, climatetech sector research, investment due diligence, participation in corporate venture strategy meetings, and interaction with investors, sponsors, and founders.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Due Diligence - Assist with organizing documents unique to each investment.  Responsible for data completion and accuracy.  Review documents to pull relevant data points in a summarized fashion.
2.    Work with founders and internal team members to monitor investment performance and create analytics to evaluate variations efficiently.
3.    Help summarize latest market trends and technology developments related to climatetech at the federal, state, and local levels, to the extent pertinent.
4.    Assist with document review to ensure that certain investment-related documents and terms meet Nelnet’s standards for investing in climatetech opportunities.
5.    Identifying emerging climatetech venture opportunities across the US.  
6.    Assist in the creative writing process for press releases and external communications.  
7.    Conduct internet-based research of prospective institutional customers and prepare reports / recommendations on next steps for engagement.  
 


EDUCATION:  
Bachelors Degree-seeking with an emphasis in Business, Finance, or Entrepreneurship.

 

EXPERIENCE:  
1.    Completion of business and finance courses in a degree-seeking capacity.  
2.    Proficient with Excel, Word, and Power Point.  
3.    On campus experience (i.e., Student Venture Fund, Entrepreneurship Club, etc)
