SALT is a financing platform for high-quality global climate projects that reduce or remove carbon or/and protect our natural ecosystems. Our mission to close the $100 Trillion climate financing gap, unlocking every climate project that can credibly move the needle on our climate challenge, with speed, scale, and equity.
We do this by offering better data, proprietary risk assessments, and efficient capital structures, helping translate net-zero committed capital from financial institutions/corporates into direct financing across a project's lifecycle.
SALT’s founding team, spread across Germany, Spain and South Africa consists of world class exited founders and operators across engineering, finance and carbon projects. In this role you will be working directly with SALT’s CEO and Co-founder Shilps , an experienced operator and entrepreneur. She brings 16+ years of Fintech, Capital markets and climate experience across Asia, US and Europe , working closely with Technology firms, Financial institutions, Advisory cos and venture-backed startups. Shilps is also well known for her climate activism work, which also led to her Guinness world record
Your mission is
To help our CEO, Shilps with business operations+ ongoing administrative tasks and tag team with our biz-dev team on strategic projects
This is a great opportunity for a hands-on person with a strong business or/and finance background, with the desire embrace the chaos and rapid growth that comes with an early-stage startup.
Key Info
Location: Strong Preference for someone based in Germany+German Speaker (owing to the set up of our company). For the right candidate, Europe/UK remote could be OK
Interview Process: 4-5 hours total time over 2 weeks
Salary: Competitive - a mix of cash and equity.
Reporting to: CEO/Co-Founder Shilps Gautam
Your day-to-day looks like
- Proactively manage the day-to-day needs & requests from the CEO
- Project managing company-level tasks to ensure follow-up to action items
- Coordinate remote activities such as travel , schedules, vacation, light HR activities across the globe
- Arrange & schedule interviews for open roles
- Compile, submit, & track expenses in concert w/ outsourced bookkeeper
- Support expensing process in concert w/ outsourced bookkeeper
- Manage light people operations duties including payroll, tools setup, on/offboarding, contractor management, etc.
- Manage legal and contractual processes & agreements across vendors, customers, employees
- Coordinate SALT’s presence at marketing events
- Run the company wide OKRs/ goal-setting process
- Help the Biz-dev team on strategic, client-focused projects
Ideally you have
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple objectives with tight deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and in German
- Extremely organized, precise & able to prioritize & manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability & willingness to continuously acquire new competencies & accept new challenges
- The ability to work well under pressure in a rapidly changing environment
- Minimum ~3+ years experience in a business ops/ administrative support
- Self-starter who does not need to be managed day-in & day-out to proactively add value
- Strong interpersonal communication skills & providing timely information
- Highly collaborative & willing to work cross-functionally
- Bonus: Experience with DATEV and tech stack such as GSuite, Slack and Notion
- Bonus: You are experienced in accounting/finances management
- Extra Bonus if you have worked on or experienced first-hand our climate challenge in any capacity

- As a young startup with limited resources, we are unable to do so, at this point. We are committed to building a close-knit, equitable, remote-first company, irrespective of where you might be located.

- We will aim to get back to you within 5 business days from the day you first apply and 72 hours post each stage thereafter.

- A short task (asynchronous)
- Task debrief and SALT Deeper Dive with Shilps (45 mins)
- Reference calls with two of your former colleagues (no more than 15 mins each)
- Optional/Candidate’s choice: Call with one of our trusted advisors/investors, where you get to ask any questions you may have (25 mins)
