Profile:
The Associate will support Blue Bear in investment sourcing, diligence, underwriting, and transaction execution with exposure to ongoing portfolio company board and reporting work.
Duties:
Perform market research to help identify new investment trends and opportunities
· Deal screening: call and/or meet with prospects, evaluate opportunities
· Documentation: summarize call notes, enter deals into CRM, support internal team presentations, modeling, and investment committee preparation work
· Network with peers across the venture capital, startup, and corporate communities
Perform Due Diligence
· Gather information from prospect companies and industry sources
· Research and talk to existing references and customers
· Research potential competitors and counterparties
· Perform business model and valuation analysis via modelling
· Help preparing internal investment memos
Required Skills and Experience:
· Passion for the energy industry
· Deep interest in new digital technology paradigms such as artificial intelligence, immersive computing, blockchains, and quantum computing
· Appreciation for complex operational systems and their drivers and impacts
· 2-4 years of work experience including at least 1-2 years of investment experience (VC/PE, investment banking, business development)
· Outstanding analytical skills, detail-oriented, proactive and self-motivated
· Strong knowledge of Excel including advanced function
· Experience with financial modeling and investment valuation techniques
· Ability to produce well designed professional looking Powerpoint presentations
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
