Energy Foundry is seeking a dynamic pre-MBA Associate to play a foundational role and propel the firm forward.  Key focus areas include sourcing and managing a robust 1,500+ deal pipeline, supporting a market intelligence platform that leverages deal flow and market research to deliver leading insights, and working closely with our strategic partners. This role also supports core elements of the venture business, and includes early deal assessment, targeted outreach, and relationship-building. Deal Flow and Data Analysis

  • Enhance our strong platform with new methods and opportunities for deal sourcing
  • Review all investment opportunities and facilitate meetings to assess the best opportunities
  • Outreach to promising entrepreneurs and companies that satisfy screening criteria
  • Manage and build upon Energy Foundry’s robust deal pipeline and data platforms

Market intelligence

  • Leverage an extensive and proprietary innovation database; analyze and identify emerging technology and market trends
  • Conduct external market research for data-driven insights about early-stage energy innovation and trends
  • Create alignment between select start-ups and corporate partners
  • Prepare and present findings in a clear and actionable format using both written and visual materials
  • Engage and collaborate with Energy Foundry’s word-class strategic partners

 

Venture Business Support

  • Support preliminary due diligence activities for potential investments
  • Participate in community events to drive brand recognition and expand our network
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and ecosystem partners who support early-stage entrepreneurship such as incubators, accelerators, and universities
  • Compile data to analyze portfolio performance

Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the organization by proactively identifying and solving problems and working collaboratively as a positive and engaged team member.

Profile Desired:

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, intellectually curious, and multi-talented individual who is passionate about building the future we need by driving successful outcomes in early-stage energy and cleantech innovation. They also will have an entrepreneurial, problem-solver spirit. Candidates may be seeking to attend a top-tier MBA program after two years or develop a long-term path in venture capital.

The following criteria are strongly preferred:

  • Undergraduate degree in physical science, engineering, or similar STEM field
  • At least 2-3 years of business experience in management consulting, startup operations, market research, data analysis, or other similar roles
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to develop strong relationships with stakeholders Strong intellectual curiosity for new technologies and innovations
  • Highly structured and detail-oriented approach
  • Ability to efficiently prioritize and execute deliverables across multiple workstreams
  • Skilled in independently managing and delivering processes
  • Demonstrated interest in the energy and cleantech industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
