Hi! My name is Ben, I'm Flip's founder and CEO, and I'm looking for a technical cofounder to join as CTO. Please read on for details.

About Flip
Flip's mission is to make electricity clean, affordable and reliable. To do so, we help homeowners get paid by utilities in exchange for sharing their solar batteries to support the grid. This is what's called a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). We believe this is the future of energy, aka distributed energy. As our supply becomes fixed (we can't control when solar and wind produce) we're going to have to rely more and more on controlling demand. What's more, as we race to electrify and stop using gas-powered devices, our demand for electricity is going to increase, requiring infrastructure upgrades we can't afford. Home batteries will play a crucial role helping both shift demand and reduce stress on the grid.

About me
Born and raised in France, I've lived in the Bay Area for over 10 years. Having studied business and subsequently learned to code, in 2013 I started Hackster.io, an online community for electronics engineers, as a solo founder. When my cofounder Adam joined me a year later, I took on the product side and Adam the business side. We had a successful exit in 2016 as the company was sold to Avnet, a large semiconductor distributor. After Hackster, I felt the calling to work on something impactful in climate. With my attention focused on distributed energy, I created a learning group for Virtual Power Plants as a way to accelerate my own learning. A few months later, Flip was born! At this startup, I'm the CEO and am responsible for all business aspects, including, among others, customer acquisition, partnerships and fundraising.

About you
You'll be an equal partner (50/50 equity split), with the ability to shape the vision. As the CTO, you'll fully own the product side of the company, and be responsible for building the tech stack that will bring our vision into reality. You have previous startup experience, ideally as a founder. You also have experience working in a field related to decentralized energy. When it comes to tech, you're a jack of all trades, feeling comfortable working up and down the stack, building distributed systems, processing large amounts of data, and using machine learning techniques. You're a self-starter, a faster learner, can handle risk and ambiguity, and know how to prioritize and deliver products people want in a limited amount of time. Most importantly, you're a great person to work and hang out with ๐.
