Who we are

The problem: Every minute matters in fire response.  As climate change amplifies the intensity of wildfires—with longer fire seasons, dryer fuels, and faster winds—new ignitions spread faster and put more communities at risk. Today, most wildfires are detected by bystanders and reported via 911, meaning it can take hours to detect a fire, verify its exact location and size, and dispatch first responders. Fire authorities need a faster way to detect, confirm, and pinpoint fires, so that they can quickly respond—preventing small flare-ups from becoming devastating infernos.

About Pano: Founded in 2020, Pano is building the world’s first fully-integrated disaster management platform focused on climate change resilience. Pano’s SaaS solution leverages advanced hardware, software, and artificial intelligence technologies to modernize the disaster preparedness industry. Pano Rapid Detect, the company’s first product, is already a leader in wildfire early detection and intelligence, with millions of dollars in revenue  stretching across 4 states in the U.S. and 2 states in Australia. Our customers include PG&E, Portland General Electric, the Big Sky Montana Fire Department, and Southern Cross Forests.

Founded in mid-2020, we’ve raised over $8M from leading VC funds and prominent angel investors, including the CEOs of Gitlab, HomeLight, and People.AI. 

Role overview

Pano is interested in finding a Senior Business Development Manager to help drive go-to-market activities at an exciting early growth phase of the business. Our ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, adaptable, and strategic. 

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will be responsible for helping us to ramp our sales, expand into new markets, refine our business model and target customer segments, and strategically plan for growth. As we bring our first product to market, your work will be invaluable in setting the future trajectory of the company. This is an opportunity for a qualified candidate to gain hands-on experience in entrepreneurship and startup success, all while working on a meaningful and urgent issue.

Key responsibilities

  • Build strong and enduring relationships with our priority customer accounts, with the ultimate goal of converting pilot programs into full commercial deals
  • Develop and execute on a strategic plan to expand our customer base and strengthen our customer value-add ahead of the 2022 fire season, including the solution offer, business model and sales motion to drive adoption of our technologies
  • Build partner strategy to drive business growth through sell to and sell through partners

Desired qualifications & experience

  • 4+ years experience in business development (partnerships) and/or early sales for entrepreneurial organizations, such as start-ups or new business units
  • 2+  years of experience with management consulting, product management, venture capital or business operations 
  • MBA or similar graduate degree from a top university (preferred)
  • Strong organizational, presentation, and writing skills
  • Must have a passion for innovation, be comfortable defining a way forward in the face of ambiguity, and have the ability to scale and influence broadly

Location

Remote or hybrid, with a preference for individuals in the Western U.S. Our offices are located in the Mission district of San Francisco.
