Who are we?

The World Fund is a €350M venture capital fund built around the belief that decarbonisation is the key value driver for the future. We back entrepreneurs building climate tech for a regenerative world.

We invest in world-changing technologies and business ideas: our portfolio will save 2GT of C02e by 2040 which is c. 5% of emissions globally. Our diverse international team is made up of entrepreneurs, scientists, communication and policy specialists, investors, and visionaries.

What will you be doing?

• Reviewing startup pitch decks and providing recommendations, taking ownership in driving the analysis of our deal flow pipeline
• Support us in comprehensive deal analysis on discrete tasks; e.g. financial modelling, competitive mapping, etc
• We are in the midst of launching our fund and growing rapidly, so there is scope to spend some of your time supporting other critical functions - to be discussed based on prior experience

Essential:

• Demonstrable capability and prior experience in analysis of startup pitch decks with provision of quality recommendations, preferably at a venture capital fund or similar
• Minimum of three years professional working experience
• Passionate around addressing climate change and forming a regenerative world
• Supportive of diverse opinions and able to constructively challenge viewpoints
• Fluent in English, with another language a plus

Desirable:

• Experience in startup ecosystem and in directly interacting with entrepreneurs
• Voluntary or professional activities undertaken in a climate tech field
• Capable of thought leadership in one of three key verticals; FALU, mobility or materials
• MBA or Masters in Finance, or demonstrable equivalence
• Five years + of professional working experience

• A senior member of staff will be your mentor at the World Fund. They will be a part of your professional development and coach you to build on your skills in venture capital
• Whilst working with us you are a full part of our team and the World Fund family, and so will be joining us at our week-long strategic ‘offsites’ and team meetings
• There will be opportunity to spend at least 10% of your time gaining experience across other functions for a part of the role, to discuss with your line manager
• You will join us at our co-working space in EDGE Olympic, Amsterdam, where we work alongside other leading tech companies and VCs. EDGE is one of the most sustainable buildings in Amsterdam with 24/7 access, community events and free gym membership

  • We suggest that you find one startup in deeptech or hardware, and one in business model innovation or software, to demonstrate the breadth of your understanding
  • We also suggest that they sit within different verticals within climate tech
  • Although we require that all startups can abate 100MT of C02 or equivalent at scale, please do not go into depth on this in your analysis. We are looking for a confirmation that you have checked this assumption is reasonable, and then your holistic analysis of the business potential
  • Do not submit more than one page per company for your analysis
