Role Description
Form Energy's Software & Analytics team is looking for a Senior Fundamentals Analyst to spearhead the development of our forward energy price forecasting capabilities for a variety of energy markets and market products. As a senior member of the Analytics team’s Market Fundamentals group, you will work closely with your Analytics colleagues as well as Form Energy's Commercial Operations, Policy, Finance, and Product Management teams to develop a company-wide, fundamental understanding of the future of U.S. power markets  and the role of multi-day storage within it. We use this fundamental outlook for a range of business planning purposes, including pricing, demand planning, and commercial and policy strategy, ultimately resulting in the deployment of Form Energy's storage product and other clean energy infrastructure.

The Senior Fundamentals Analyst will use a variety of data and modeling tools (including Formware, Form Energy's in house capacity expansion, unit commitment, and economic dispatch modeling tool) in conjunction with historical data and other production simulation software to 1) Create nodal and hub level energy price forecasts, 2) Work with Form’s policy team to quantify value from any present or future market products available to multi-day storage including capacity, ancillary services, firm fuel supply, etc. 3) Work with Form’s Business Development team to pinpoint the best locations for product deployment.

What You'll Do:

    • Spearhead Form Energy’s energy price forecasting capabilities to support Form’s project development efforts.
    • Use production simulation models, historical data and other methods to create nodal and hub level energy price forecasts for major US power markets
    • Partner with Form’s policy team to quantify value from any present or future market products available to multi-day storage.
    • Partner with Commercial Analytics and Business Development team to drive decision making and pinpoint the best locations for product deployment
    • Communicate price forecasts and associated project revenue to our customers, helping them understand this value and moving them to develop projects with Form
    • Be the voice of the energy market valuation and revenue forecasting in Form Energy's internal deal processes.
    • Create collateral - slides, memos, papers - and storytelling techniques to communicate technical and complex analyses clearly and concisely to internal and external stakeholders

What You'll Bring:

    • Passion for our mission, sustainability, and climate change
    • Four to seven-plus years commercial experience or a combination of graduate school and experience in market modeling or financial analysis within renewable energy, energy storage, or power sector
    • Experience with energy markets and price forecasting techniques. Experience with commercial production simulation software a plus (e.g. PLEXOS, Aurora, RESOLVE etc.)
    • Deep understanding of U.S. power market fundamentals and dynamics
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to convey information and content quickly and effectively to stakeholders and customers
    • Ability to collect and organize large data sets, run extensive quantitative analysis to address complex questions, and present results clearly
    • Experience using Python for complex data analysis, manipulation, and visualization (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Altair, and Plotly)
    • Experience scoping and managing projects
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in economics, engineering, mathematics, or related field
