Program Objective:

Piva’s 10-week Summer Associate program is designed to provide MBA students (1st year MBAs or recent graduates) with a broad understanding of venture investing, especially as it pertains to the new era of climate & industrial technology.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The program will be in-person in San Francisco following Piva’s hybrid work model. Piva Summer Associates will deliver on three areas of responsibility during the program:

1. Special Projects:

Conduct primary research and in-depth analysis on an emerging opportunity area within Piva’s investment verticals. Past topics have included:

1) The Future of Hydrogen
2) Carbon Removal
3) Industrial Applications of AI
4) Climate Adaptation
5) The Future of Food & Agriculture

2. VC Operations (deal sourcing, diligence, and execution):

• Source & screen startups, and present new opportunities at weekly Partners Meeting
• Support diligence on specific investment opportunities

3. VC Networking:

• Lead events such as topical industry lunches/dinners, thematic panels, and/or young investor networking events
•  Build relationships with our co-investors, partners, portfolio companies, leading entrepreneurs, and other key stakeholders in the ecosystem

Throughout the program, our Summer Associates will be working closely with our Partners and investment team.

Profile of Candidate:

Piva is looking for candidates who are:
• Driven, motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Confident and positive, high-enthusiasm and high-ambition, capable of easily interacting with investors
and C-level executives
• Detail-oriented with outstanding analytical and communication skills
• Flexible, low-ego, and willing to get involved with many different aspects of the business
• Deeply curious and have a vision for a better world

Preferred Professional Background:
• Unique and relevant domain expertise in technology, industrial and/or energy sector
• Broad understanding & exposure to industrial decarbonization technologies (bonus)
• Strong command of Excel and PowerPoint, including advanced functions
• Experience with financial modeling and investment valuation techniques
• Entrepreneurial and collaborative approach to work
