I’m hiring a part-time editorial assistant for Important, Not Important.

It’s time to build. And I need your help.

You’ll assist with all elements of INI production, from the newsletter to the podcast.

You’ll run INI’s Twitter account on the daily, supporting reputable science and progressive missions with facts, engaging conversation, and devastatingly appropriate memes. You should immediately know which Schitt’s Creek gif applies to Delta virus updates or Exxon greenwashing bullshit.

You’ll create social media graphics to support podcast marketing, and cut up audio episodes into fun and compelling bite-size chunks with Descript and/or Headliner so they’re easily consumed/shared on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat.

You’ll cut up newsletter intros and analysis, and new and old Do Better Better essays into graphics and Twitter threads and LinkedIn posts. 

You’ll learn and employ hip new ways of sharing content but also be cognizant of what’s a waste of time and what’s not. 

Some of this stuff can be scheduled, some of it should be live and organic. You should know the difference and be ruthless about using your time wisely

You’ll create, post, and review analytics to understand what works and what doesn’t, and then refine and do better.

You’ll help us Do Better Better, and build a vastly cleaner, healthier, and more equitable world in the process.

 

Responsibilities

Social Media and Marketing:

  • Own social for INI, IJ, QE

    • Organic daily creative and engagement

    • Schedule new content

    • Write threads

    • Post and RT jobs

    • Schedule repurposed content you’ve created and managed

    • Manage live social events

  • Create, manage, and distribute graphics and other marketing

  • Create, manage, and distribute repurposed email and audio content to other mediums

Production:

  • Own pod pre and post-production and feed management

    • Manage reader and listener feedback

    • Manage calendar

    • Work directly with editor and ops

  • Own guest booking and post-interview details

    • Research

    • Outreach

    • Booking

    • Pre-interview communication

    • Post-interview communication

    • Manage guest database

Research:

  • Compile and manage research prep and questions

Job Board:

  • Own and manage Important Jobs:

    • Add new companies to DB

    • Adding new jobs from DB

    • Build and manage processes for new companies

    • Building and managing new and existing strategic partnerships

    • Building and managing social and IJ email

    • Approve jobs per our thresholds

 

Requirements

  • Must have extensive and excellent copywriting experience

  • Must fucking love calendars and logistics

  • Must be hyper-focused on detail

  • Must read books

  • Must love science

  • Must be curious

  • Must want to fight for a better world

  • Must have an eye for design

  • Must not be an asshole

  • Must be a self-starter

  • Must be able to follow directions the first time

  • Must love dogs
