As the Director of Business Development, you will be responsible for developing new partnerships from prospecting to deal making, building new relationships, defining client value and financial impact, expanding partnership scope, leading commercial execution and delivering results. This person will also help refine processes, run demand generation programs, and help build out our growth strategy. This position reports to the Head of Sales & Business Development. This is the right role for an entrepreneurial, strategic thinker who likes to lead from the front lines, get their hands dirty and build from the ground up. 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop a pipeline of strategic partnerships in our target verticals, negotiate complex commercial terms and secure target partners
  • Build close-knit, deep relationships with our enterprise partners to develop business plans and execute on strategies that accelerate growth
  • Collaborate with partners to develop programs, campaigns, joint-marketing and  other demand generation activities
  • Demonstrate Cloverlys’ solution, identify opportunities to expand offerings, assess market needs and build shared roadmaps
  • Share market feedback from partners and end customers to Cloverly internal stakeholders and leadership, informing our roadmap
  • Execute on our partner enablement program; sharing Cloverly expertise & enabling partners to effectively bring climate solutions to market
  • Work with Cloverly leadership to continually refine our partner engagement program & identify new revenue opportunities
  • Collaborate with sales & marketing to ensure success of partner-sourced deals
  • Own and manage tracking and analysis of partner pipeline activity including engagement and conversion KPIs to optimize performance and inform planning

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • 5-10 years of operational experience in building a business development function in a fast growing B2B startup - leading complex programs from start to finish
  • A sense of adventure, willingness to get your hands dirty, and create the tools necessary to help partners execute on their business goals
  • A demonstrable track record of securing & managing large accounts, negotiating complex deal terms, and following an enterprise GTM motion
  • Strong problem solving skills with outstanding relationship management & leadership skills
  • Empathy to understand the needs of our partners, their customers and the ability to share concrete learnings with Cloverly leadership that inform decisions
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and a desire for constant learning. You’ll take ownership of your role and focus on execution and continuous improvement
  • The ability to prioritize actions that drive partner success and revenue growth
  • Exceptional written & verbal communication skills
  • The ability to thrive in a fast moving & rapidly evolving market
  • Keen insight into partner GTM activities to assist in developing accurate forecasts and maintaining up-to-date data in our CRM
  • [Preferred] Experience in climate, sustainability or our target industries building climate solutions
