Summary of Position:

As the only EA at Congruent, you will be an essential member of the team in keeping the Managing Partners and the broader team organized and operating effectively by providing day-to-day, high-level support to the co-founders, while also helping the broader firm with its goals. This is a strategic and facilitative role that requires focus and flexibility, diplomacy, discretion, leadership, and initiative.

Congruent is a small, hardworking team, and the candidate will enter a high-pace, high-volume, and highly autonomous work environment. Every member of the team is looked to as an expert and leader within their scope and the EA will be relied upon to lead strategy on everything from calendaring to logistical management for the office and external stakeholders and partners.

Responsibilities:

Provide direct support to the two Co-Founders of Congruent Ventures:

  • Manage busy, complex calendars, making sure time-sensitive changes are resolved and communicated in a timely manner
  • Ability to understand workflows and prioritize meetings
  • Prioritize responsibilities and do whatever it takes to increase productivity and efficiency of the two Co-founders
  • Assist with meeting prep, take notes, capture, and follow up on action items - Book and arrange travel, create itineraries, and manage details
  • Expense reconciliation and report management
  • Maintain a high level of responsiveness to internal and external parties

Firm level responsibilities:

  • Plan and handle end-to-end logistics for internal and external meetings with limited partners, including larger events occasionally (50+ attendees)
  • Own special projects as needed, including planning Congruent-branded networking and community events and creativity is welcome
  • Constantly seek ways to improve operational excellence and work with other team members to achieve goals
  • Help maintain corporate CRM and other databases to ensure accurate and up to date information
  • Manage the office space and related tasks including supply procurement, kitchen maintenance, and office snacks
  • When in the office, help greet and assist office visitors and partners
  • Be a genuine champion and a significant driver of a caring and motivated company culture 
  • The EA role is SF based, with 3-4 days per week expected to be in office

Qualifications:

  • Passion for the firm’s objective and goal in investing in early-stage businesses that are making a more sustainable future for the planet
  • 5-8+ years supporting Founder/CEO/Managing Director of an early and high-growth startup, venture capital firm or within an equally high paced, high volume, highly autonomous environment
  • Skilled at managing up and working with other team members - you remember the details and can hold the co-founders accountable on priorities and tasks and work with the rest of the team to achieve goals
  • Proven ability to develop, document, and teach processes
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information, VIP stakeholders, and sensitive situations with discretion, confidentiality, and exceptional judgment
  • Strong, clear written and verbal communicator. You communicate quickly, clearly, concisely, and frequently
  • “24/7” level of commitment with flexibility to perform some job duties outside of normal business hours as needed
  • Willingness to stretch outside role to help on additional projects
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel
  • Knowledge of other note taking tools and databases helpful (Notion, Airtable, Affinity)
  • High EQ with expert relationship management skills
  • Ability to understand the relative priority of meetings and gracefully manage complex relationships across companies, limited partners, and entrepreneurs
  • High energy, enthusiasm, patience, and authentic dedication to service
  • Creative problem solver that can leverage diverse historic experience in a Congruent context.

Bios of the Co-Founders

The co-founders work collaboratively to set the culture, pace, and tone of the firm. This position will report to both co-founders working closely with our Director of Operations along with responsibilities to the rest of the team.

Abe Yokell is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Congruent Ventures. Abe oversees Congruent’s investments in AMP Robotics, Amply Power, Blueprint Power, Camus Energy, Leap Energy, Evergrow, Omnidian, For Days, Hippo Harvest, Milk Run, Modumate, Optimoroute, Phase Genomics, Raptor Maps, Solidspac3, Span.IO, and Vector among others. He has over 18 years of investment experience, having invested across sectors and business models, and was responsible for opening RockPort Capital’s West Coast office in 2007. Abe graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Economics, with minors in Chemistry and Biology. When not serving as entertainment for his young children, Abe enjoys hiking, cycling, skiing, travel, and pointing out solar roofs to whomever happens to be nearby.

Joshua Posamentier is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Congruent Ventures. Joshua oversees Congruent’s investments in PolySpectra, Sense Photonics, Energetic Insurance, TeleSense, Bellwether Coffee, Xtelligent, Petra, Fox Robotics, Alloy Enterprises, Climate Robotics, Ebb Carbon, Fervo Energy, Kodama, Lydian Labs, Machina Labs, Muon Space, Parallel Systems, Pico MES, Rendered.ai, VEIR, and Meati Foods. He has rich experience in venture (Prelude Ventures, Intel Capital) and operating roles (Intel, National Semi, TI), and entrepreneurship (CEO of Blipstream). He was an integral member of Intel’s first wireless chip team, started and ran National Semiconductor’s EV, Energy Storage and Smart Grid business units and initiated investment in several new business lines. Joshua has over 50 patents issued or pending, holds a BA in physics from the University California at Berkeley, and holds MBAs from the Columbia Business School and the Haas School of Business. Josh is an avid cyclist, skier, sailor, surfer, and photographer and lives with his family in the SF Bay Area.
