Job Overview: Join Green Project as Methodology Lead and shape a fast-growing climate tech company that's delivering accessible and affordable sustainability data management to companies of all sizes and ESG maturities. As a crucial member of our team, you'll help refine our climate data collection, processing, conversion, and estimation processes; manage our emissions factor databases; ensure compliance with and auditability to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and other leading carbon accounting standards; and oversee research into scientific, regulatory, and market developments. This role will closely engage with Customer Success and Product leads to ensure that methodological and data management improvements are flowed into client onboarding practices and platform expansion.
Responsibilities:
Carbon Compliance:
- Provide leadership and institutional knowledge on ESG/climate frameworks, regulations, and market trends
- Solidify/document existing GPT knowledgebase on the above
- Formalize processes for keeping track of and documenting the existence and evolution of the above to keep GPT’s knowledgebase current and ensure product/service offerings remain up to date
- Drive continual process improvement in Green Project’s data acquisition, cleaning, and conversion by cementing learnings from client onboardings into company best practices
- Maintain and expand databases housing GHG emission factors, contributing to the ongoing enhancement of our methodology.
- Stay informed about emerging sustainability standards and protocols, embodying a product-oriented mindset that enables you to advise our developers on software refinements aligned with industry advancements.
- Participate actively in continuing education opportunities, such as webinars, to stay at the forefront of sustainability trends and analytical techniques.
Client Engagement:
- Develop external thought leadership and “quick guides” to evolving ESG/climate frameworks and regulations
- Engage with new and existing customers to understand knowledge gaps re: the above, as well as desired functionality of GPT product
- Signal GPT’s carbon expertise externally via webinars, industry group participation (e.g., Carbon Call), marketable asset development, and other thought leadership
Product Management/Customer Success:
- Identify opportunities for modularization of GPT product to reflect different customer preferences and industry/regulatory frameworks
- Liaise with technical team to implement above capabilities and evolving best practices into GPT product functionality
- Provide additional QA in applying GHG Protocol principles to existing data sets and processes
- Assist in customer onboarding and support as needed
Requirements:
- 3+ years in carbon accounting, GHG/decarbonization modeling, LCA analysis, or a related field strongly recommended
- Deep understanding of carbon accounting methodologies and regulations, including the GHG Protocol
- Leadership experience with a SaaS-based environmental or sustainability data management provider a plus, but not required
- Strong analytical, organization, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a relentless focus on data quality.
- Clear passion for the environment, eye for impact, and enthusiasm to positively shape Green Project's climate management practices
- High adaptability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced, independent startup environment
- Strong excel skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills - comfort describing your work at varying levels of sophistication
- Proven research ability to solve problems and continue to expand your knowledge
- Excitement for and comfort with collaboration – demonstrated ability to work well with others to manage time and team capacity.
- Experience with BPA and data transformation/pipeline tools like Stitch/Glue/Snowflake/internal tooling a plus, but not required

Salary: $80,000-$120,000
Actual base pay may vary based on various factors such as location, job-related knowledge, skills, level and experience. The base pay is just one component of the total competitive compensation package for employees.
Remote Work
Green Project embraces remote work, and our team comprises talented individuals who work across the US and in several other countries. Our largest presence is in NYC, and employees in the NYC area are invited to join us for occasional working-in-person days, but these are never required. Candidates for this role must be located on the US East Coast.
