Supply Change Capital -- Senior Associate, Investments

Job Description: Supply Change Capital seeks a Senior Investment Associate to manage deal flow and oversee sourcing-through-investment with the goal of building a competitive pipeline resulting in a best-in-class portfolio. As an early full time hire at Supply Change Capital, you’ll be joining as a core team member to invest at the intersection of food, culture, and technology. Location is flexible within the United States; the firm is headquartered in Chicago and Los Angeles. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Manage deal flow process and pipeline: 
  • Lead and run regular pipeline meetings, ensuring timely follow up by partners and team; 
  • Manage investment stage-gates, ensuring all companies have stellar experience and clear communication on pipeline stage & status; 
  • Manage data entry for deal flow process, including managing pipeline KPIs, conducting analysis and deriving insights on pipeline evolution; 
  • Take introductory calls, write and file deal notes; 
  • Manage revolving team of graduate interns supporting sourcing, introductory calls, and diligence; 
  • Participate in industry events to raise visibility of Supply Change Capital to build deal pipeline; 
  • Build and manage relationships, and work to expand our network of partner VC firms, investors, industry/enterprise partners, and ecosystem stakeholders; 
  • Support diligence on investment opportunities: 
  • In partnership with team, conduct due diligence, including financial analysis, market sizing, competitive landscape, customer calls, and exit analysis; 
  • Lead the writing of investment memos for opportunities leading to investment committee vote; 
  • Identify experts and reach out for insight and Q&A. 

 

Required Skills & Experience 

One year of experience in venture capital, along with experience in at least one of the sectors in which our firm invests, including: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, ideally within Engineering, Finance, Business or other related field; advanced business degree preferred; 
  • At least one year of investment experience conducting key responsibilities outlined; 
  • Project management experience from initiation phase through the project close; 
  • Effective and efficient problem solving capabilities with the ability to work independently and proactively, as well as develop creative solutions to meet portfolio company and team needs; 
  • Effective communicator with the ability to convey essential information to make meetings run efficiently; 
  • Excellent networking and interpersonal skills including the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams and the flexibility to engage and collaborate across the firm’s capabilities and practice areas; 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a focus on the ability to clearly and concisely articulate a thesis. The ideal candidate is comfortable with public speaking, giving presentations, and can put thoughts together in written form with ease.

  • An effective leader and manager of interns or contract support; 
  • Comfortable raising a hand when there is an issue; 
  • Process oriented but flexible; 
  • Able to self manage and work remotely while delivering results;

  • Comfortable working on a small team in a virtual and high performing environment.
