Position Summary
The Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs seeks a Managing Director of the Carbontech Development Initiative, a new incubator and accelerator devoted to carbon-to-value technology development focusing on carbon harvesting. The Managing Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Carbontech Development Initiative working directly with the Initiative’s Founding Director, Secretariat Director, Research Director, and Tech-to-Market Director. Their work will include implementing the strategic plan for the development of the Initiative, including managing relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
The position will leverage linkages between other areas of ongoing work across the Earth Institute, Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, Sabin Center for Climate Change Law, Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy, and Columbia University more broadly, including its Climate School and Columbia Technology Ventures. The position will engage at a high level with key stakeholders, and strong verbal and written communications, as well as cultural awareness skills are required.
Responsibilities
Lead the Carbontech Development Initiative, working with the leadership team (Founding Director, Research Director, Tech-to-Market Director and Secretariat Director). This would include:
Collaborate and cooperate with NYSERDA leadership and heads of affiliated programs (e.g., Activate Fellowship program).
Collaborate with the Center on Global Energy Policy and University leadership to identify, create and implement strategic plans to support execution of the Carbontech Development Initiative.
Hire, mentor, and manage a Secretariat Director who will assist with the execution of the Carbontech Development Initiative mission and work plan.
Develop partnerships with a diverse set of stakeholders, including partners across Columbia University, within New York State, and across the innovation ecosystem.
