Join our leadership team in this newly formed role as the Head of Sustainability Reporting where your voice, passion, and vision will empower and steer this crucial team towards meeting Macquarie’s ESG data, reporting and analytical needs. The role resides within Group Finance where uplifting our Sustainability Reporting will be key as we prepare to meet evolving reporting commitments and obligations. Environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities are becoming more and more relevant in today’s world, here at Macquarie we are no different. Macquarie produces a range of ESG reporting material and this role will position Macquarie to meet its rapidly evolving ESG data, analytical and reporting needs at the global and subsidiary levels.

As the Head of Sustainability Reporting, you'll be instrumental in developing the platforms, systems and processes enabling insights and the delivery of our ESG future reporting, bringing our ESG agenda to life. Having previously led high performing ESG or financial reporting teams, with a passion and relevant ESG experience you will thrive in a fast paced, collaborative and innovative culture.

What impact will you have?

In the first six months you will be instrumental in uplifting our Sustainability reporting capability including  hiring, developing, and mentoring a high performing team and evolving our sustainability reporting frameworks and processes to meet our future reporting obligations and commitments. In addition to this you will;

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Macquarie’s ESG reporting policies, systems, and processes enabling us to meet our strategic objectives in this space
  • Manage Macquarie’s annual ESG reporting process and external reporting disclosures in close collaboration with our Risk and Corporate Affairs teams
  • Drive the ongoing enhancement of ESG related data and performance reporting
  • Monitor, proactively plan for, and implement the adoption of developments in the Australian and international sustainability reporting and sustainable finance landscape and in particular in the jurisdictions we operate, including d the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Sustainability Disclosures
  • Present on ESG risks and opportunities to senior management and lend your expertise to external stakeholder engagements on ESG related topics.

What skills will you use?

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with a proven ability to apply a commercial lens and focus on the bigger picture
  • Experience in a highly numerate and analytical environment with in-depth knowledge of an existing ESG function would be considered favourably
  • Be bold, seeing challenges as opportunities that can be overcome as a team, be curious, always asking, “What’s new,” and “How can we do this better”  
  • Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively in a global team

You will be encouraged to examine problems from every angle, challenge the status quo and come up with new and innovative ways of progressing our business while being supported by a diverse leadership team.

You will work within FMG and across other Macquarie groups particularly the Risk Management Group (RMG) when developing the uplifted ESG reporting policies and frameworks, as well as influencing the Operating Groups to ensure effective and efficient data sharing processes to tell the Macquarie ESG story.

You will have tenacity, agility and a proven ability to sustain high levels of performance in a fast-paced, output focused environment and be a natural collaborator who can initiate and lead conversations with business leaders regarding anticipated and emerging risks and opportunities.
