AeroShield is making the next generation of energy-efficient windows possible by manufacturing the first ultra-clear, super-insulating aerogel sheets. Come join a team of motivated individuals who are working to scale up an impactful new technology!

Windows are critical elements of comfort and productivity, but in the United States they cost $40 billion in heating and cooling energy. But what if we were no longer forced to choose between insulating our walls for indoor comfort and accessing natural daylight and beautiful outdoor views? New super-insulating material developed by AeroShield is designed to drop inside existing double-pane window manufacturing to create a window 50% more insulating – this can enable $10 billion in energy savings and >500 million tons of CO2 reduction (nearly half of current US homes’ annual emissions)!

We aren’t the only ones excited: founded out of MIT in 2019, AeroShield has established manufacturing R&D activities in Hyde Park (Boston), MA since March of 2020. The company has raised over $7 M in funding to begin producing prototypes and is working with 4 DOE national labs and has earned recognition in Forbes 30 Under 30: Energy

Position Overview

As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for building and cultivating a strategic portfolio of long-term relationships with prospective customers, supply chain partners, regulators, grant agencies, and more. You will play a key role in executing of the company’s go-to-market strategy, understanding and prioritizing opportunities, and growing traction with customers.

This role will get to work directly with AeroShield's CEO and senior management team to develop processes and strategies to find and cultivate mission- and value-aligned partnerships. For established relationships, this role will provide project management support to help advance relationships towards contracts, deals, or collaborations.

Within the first 12 months, you will:

  1. Perform pre-sales market research and customer interviews across a complex chain of stakeholders and to refine the value proposition and  inform product development
  2. Oversee the execution of projects and engagements with key customers and external partners
  3. Identify decision-makers, prioritize & develop potential business opportunities, and facilitate collaboration with new partners  
  4. Explore and establish relationships with influential entities within the industry, including regulatory bodies, certification organizations, and government agencies
  5. Contribute to developing an impactful marketing strategy, including end-user outreach
  6. Research and monitor relevant regulatory and market trends and keep the company informed of major developments and their potential impacts
  7. Represent AeroShield and our core values externally at events, site visits, and other public opportunities

 

Background & Experience

We are looking for a candidate with 5+ years of experience in startup-corporate partnerships, which may include: Business Development, Customer Relationship Management, Sales Engineering. Ideally, this candidate will be motivated by our impact-driven mission and have the following qualifications:

  • BSc in an engineering field with business development experience
  • Familiarity with startup-corporate partnerships, with preference given to experience in relevant industries (glass, glazing, sustainable building materials, etc.)
  • Direct experience with new product introduction and commercialization processes in a B2B setting
  • Comfort with the technical details of our material and/or insulated glass manufacturing processes
  • Experienced in finding customer insights and applying them to inform marketing strategy and product outreach
  • Exemplary work and personal ethics combined with a can-do attitude and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
