Planetary Technologies’ vision  is to protect and restore the ocean and climate for generations to come. Planetary is seeking an experienced leader to sustainably and collaboratively scale the deployment of Planetary’s ocean carbon removal projects. The VP Project Development will have a track record of success in developing and deploying a portfolio of projects; experience in the lime or magnesia industry, an engineering background and solid commercial experience.

Core Responsibilities

• Leads scaling our business from single digit project sites to 30 over a period of 5 years by relying on a strong foundation in engineering process and a keen commercial acumen 
• Leads partnerships with the lime, magnesia, steel and mining industries to co-develop projects to recycle their byproducts into forms suitable for ocean carbon removal
• Collaborates with partners to initiate and develop projects that integrate new low carbon alkalinity production facilities with our ocean carbon removal projects
• Collaborates with engineers, metallurgists & ocean scientists to develop, implement, and continuously improve on best practices and standard operating procedures for the operation of our projects from alkalinity through to measurement of carbon removal 
• Works with senior leaders to define and execute strategic direction (OKRs) for the company 

About You

• Have experience in the lime industry or a related industry in a senior leadership position 
• Hold an degree in chemical, industrial, mechanical or similar engineering field
• Understand the importance of intellectual property and confidentiality
• Have demonstrated experience delivering a portfolio of projects in the lime, wastewater or mining industries 
• Have a track record of accepting responsibility by consistently setting and achieving outcomes (e.g. OKRs) as well as translating strategic focus into sustainable team based project execution.
• Are always looking to learn new things, are an early adopter and are passionate about making an impact on climate change
